Instead of the 2 separate mics on one usb, it is now 1 analog signal per usb input, which is how most of the other software interpreted the input. As far as the multiplayer modes are concerned, the usual suspects are all here: Battle, Duet, and Pass the Mic. As I understand it, newer Singstar titles on the PS3 (SSp3) shipped with two separate usb mics instead of the adapter, likely the reason why these titles also accept third party or alternate usb mics. There is a main single-player mode where you can sing your best all alone, or you can play in one of the game’s signature multiplayer modes. SingStar's popularity waned as the music hero genre waxed - Guitar Hero and Rock Band on the PS3 effectively killed it, and the game was shipped without its iconic mammoth microphone in favor of smartphone compatibility. As far as modes are concerned, this title does not deviate from the SingStar formula at all. SingStar reached its zenith during its time on the PS2, as the best-selling home console coupled with the karaoke classic ushered in an era of casual party gaming. Singstar is still the best party karaoke game for the consoles. There is a lag calibration tool in SingStar though (and I believe the forthcoming title update for Lips will also be adding one for that game).

However, PS4 players will be able to redownload any songs they've purchased and deleted from their systems even after the servers go dark - if there are any SingStar PS4 players. Anyone still in possession of a PS2 and the physical SingStar disc will be able to enjoy a previously selected list of songs ad infinitum.

After January 31, there will be no more online support for SingStar - that means no more new songs or online play, permanently unavailable online leaderboards, and a permanent loss in SingStar dead space of all the old songs purchased by PS3 players (unless you download them to your console before the cut-off date). Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved, Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa - One Kiss, Spice Girls - Wannabe, Robbie Williams - Angels and more Lets Sing 2020 offers.
